Instructional Games

"Educational technology is the combination of the processes and tools involved in addressing educational needs and problems, with an emphasis on applying the correct tools: computer and other electronic technologies. One type of education software in instructional programs are designed to teach students skills or information through demonstrations, examples, explanation, or problem solving." ( Integrating Educational Technology into Teaching:4e/5e. M.D.Roblyer./Aaron H Doering: Pearson Higher Education)

Instructional games are educational software tools designed to motivate learning by adding game rules to learning activities. This software tool makes learning fun and motivate learners by engaging them in the challenge of a competition. Learners are encouraged to compete by engaging in situations. Instructional games has the added advantage of offering children the elements of adventure and uncertainty. Furthermore, it is designed to match the cognitive ability of players by providing them with different levels of complexity.

An example of Instructional Software is shown below: www.slideshare.net/alaasadik/types-of-instructional/software-presentation
